Turkey 2004 - Mt.Ararat
 Dogubeazit

22.7.04    At border we´re changing money (1Euro = 1 800 000 Lir) and taking minibus (dolmus) for 5 000 000L to Dogubeazit. I dont know why, but town seems to me more "wild" than anything seen in Azerbaijan or Iran. First time we have to deal with begging children. After while we´re meeting with Cuma - our friendly guide with whom I agreed (via e-mail) our climb to Ararat. Everything goes according schedule and we´ll join the group of other trekers gathered during the last days. Cuma is picking up us to MURAT camping - nice place (a bit remote of town) just under the Ishak Pasha palace. On a way to camping we see Ararat.

We choose accomodation in simple concrete "houses" for 3 000 000 Lir/person (tent in camp cost 1 Euro/person). Than going to town to buy some supply, eat something and to meet our fourth group member - Svata - who joined us from Kackar. Back to camp on foot - nice "dramatic" views. Weather worries me, it´s cloudy and local rainshowers.

At the evening we´re going to restaurant attached to the camp. After the meal (chicken, salat), "Raki" (local spirit) and some beer show is going on. There is life music with singer and people starting to dance Kurdish dances. After small hesitation, we´re joined dancing group too. Night came fast and we will start climb famous Mt.Ararat tomorrow ....
