On Sunday we're driving through Poiso pass 1413m to 1800m below the Pico de Arieiro 1818m summit.
It's foggy and cold. After fast visit of summit we're heading back downhill.
Driving via well known Riberio Frio to Santana with typical houses of the first Madeira inhabitants.
Than again climb to 900m to place Queimadas - starting point to levada do Caldeirao Verde, one of the nicest on island.
It was a good choice to leave this levada at the end of our stay. There are six tunnels and old laurel forest under UNESCO protection.
Ruged mountains are covered by the velvet carpet of vegetation. Fantastic!
We're comming to place called Caldeirao Verde. It's huge rock amphiteatre with nice waterfall (cca 3x higher than visible on photo below) . I jumped again in my memories to table mountains in Venezuela ...
Levada continue to place where steep slippery mud stairs are winding up. They lead to another 5 tunnels and finaly to Caldeirao do Inferno - hell's canyon with two waterfalls. We skipped that. Next time.
