After yesterday's demanding trek we're making a bit of real holiday - relaxing, swimming, sunbathing ... But it didn't last long and with Petra we're going to visit Quinta do Palheiro Ferreiro gardens. Suppose to be the nicest on island. A bus lines 36 and 37 are going there. First unpleasant surprice was quite bad weather - mist and slight rain. Another bad surprice was entry fee 7 Euro per person (in guidebooks 2,5E).

The gardens are not bad but value for money ratio is rather weak... and I am botanical garden freak !

Clearly the best place was overgrown small valley called Inferno - the real tropical jungle with giant fern trees. For those who wasn't in jungle it is worth a visit. Another interesting issue could be blossoming camelia trees in December-March time.

At the evening we're going with Petra Levada do Piornais from the hotel to the Funchal center.

By chance, during our stay in Madeira there was Wine Festival in Funchal. The Madeira wine is wonderful, smooth but rough and a bit heavy (fortified - added brandy). It is close to port wine but more "wild". I love it. We already decided about our souvenirs ;-).

And here, it was a daily picture from our morning breakfast. So romantic ...
